Described by Gramophone Magazine as a “virtuoso of power and poetry”, Eldar Nebolsin is one of the most versatile and interesting artists of his generation.

In 2005 he was awarded the Svjatoslav Richter Prize in the first edition of this international piano competition in Moscow, where he was also honored with the special prize for the best interpretation of a classical piano concerto.  Eldar began his early international career after triumphing at the 11th Santander International Piano Competition in 1992 when he was just 17 years old.

Nebolsin was a student of the famous Russian pianist and piano professor Dmitri Bashkirov.  He issued various recordings on Naxos and DECCA label. His first CD, Rachmaninoff’s Préludes Op. 23 and Op. 32, earned praise from classistoday.com: “almost overwhelming…Nebolsin makes a truly extraordinary excursion into the music of Rachmaninoff”, while his second CD, released the following year,  Liszt’s Piano Concertos Nos. 1 and 2 and Totentanz with Liverpool Philharmonic and Vassily Petrenko, topped the Naxos digital bestseller platform for six months.

As a chamber musician, Eldar is a permanent member of the prestigious Spectrum Concerts Ensemble, which holds most of its concerts at the  Philharmonic Hall of Berlin. In the recent years, together with musicians as Boris Brovtsin, Jens-Peter Mainz, Torleif Thedeen, Maxim Rysanov or Clara Jumi-Kang, Eldar has released 5 chamber music CDs on Naxos label. These include music by Erwin Schulhoff, Erich Korngold, Sergei Taneyev and Anton Arensky.

Since 2013, Eldar Nebolsin holds a full-time professorship at the Hanns Eisler Music School in Berlin.  Some of his students such as Juan Perez Floristán, Kenji Miura, Alexander Gadjiev, Robert Neumann , Pallavi Mahidhara or Julius Asal not only have won various top prizes at the biggest competitions, but enjoy already an active presence on the international music scene.
